Paris, 1930. Salvador Dalí and Luis Buñuel are leading figures of the Surrealist movement, but after the scandalous premiere of ‘The Golden Age’, his first film, Buñuel finds all doors closing on him. However, his good friend, sculptor Ramón Acín, buys a lottery ticket with the wild promise that, if he wins, he will fund the documentary Buñuel wants to shoot about Las Hurdes, one of the poorest and most forgotten regions of Spain.
This is how ‘Buñuel in the Labyrinth of the Turtles’ begins, an adaptation of Fermín Solís’ graphic novel, which recounts the making of ‘Las Hurdes, Land Without Bread’, the iconic film by Luis Buñuel about that remote region of Extremadura in 1933.
