VIP PETS was a technical revolution in Hampa Studio, because we started working with a production structure where we included real hair in a series production. We had done it before in Bloopies but without a professional workflow. The production of VIP PETS has been very complex technically and artistically, because we had to build a human world where the doggies, our protagonists, could move and live adventures. The most complicated part has been the filmmaking, because the dogs are always at ground level and it complicated a lot the composition of the shots.
The stories and the concept of the series were very difficult to conceive because we had to talk about hairstyles, the Fashion world, trends, etc; to support the product which is what is really important, we could not fall into something so superfical, and the series had to have a message and universal and positive values of self-improvement, teamwork, friendship, generosity… etc. It took many months of labour to achieve a series that has worked and works so well, and it shows in the sales figures of the product, with VIP PETS now at the top of toy sales in Europe.
